Rosalind Cimino-Creager and her husband, Mark Creager, opened The Green Boutique plant nursery on Bloomingdale Avenue in 1979. At the time, their son, Matt, was a year old. Bloomingdale was a relatively quiet, two-lane road bordered by woods and cow pastures. Rosalind had always dreamed of owning a quaint plant nursery with garden accessories and concrete statuary and fountains. After about fourteen years, the nursery landscaping business was lush with wonderful plants and accessories and blessed with a loyal customer following. In addition, the shop now offered more small gift and home décor items. Though Roz and Mark loved plants and the outdoor environment, The Green Boutique would soon change forever.
The constant upkeep of the plants and the unforgiving Florida heat made an indoor, air-conditioned gift shop a tempting next chapter in the evolution of The Green Boutique. Moreover, the gift and home décor market was outgrowing the plant market. Thus began the boutique our customers know today. Unique gifts, home accessories, Brighton, Vera Bradley, apparel and fashion accessories. In late 2006, Plaza Bella shopping center opened on the property where the Creagers had lived and worked for so many years. The plaza was the realization of a family dream of a personal shopping, dining and business community. The design, architecture and planning of the plaza, from sketch to completion was Mark’s pet project. The Green Boutique now resides in the main two-story building of Plaza Bella. Mark, Rosalind and Matt are proud and fortunate to have a great staff, loyal customers, and wonderful business community to be part of.
